I tend to picking up little bits of info and techniques along the way while shooting with HDSRL, but considering these post below were made back in 2009 goes to show I have been spending too much time flexing in the mirror.
This posts informs you about the ISO values you should be shooting at on the Canon 7D. I always thought the lower the ISO value (which is the speed of the film) the darker the film therefore you would use 100ISO outdoors, and the higher the ISO value the faster the film, ie. 800ISO use when shooting indoors or in low-light. This holds true but depending on your camera/format, there are slight adjustments you can make to get better image quality.
The forum links below give you an idea of the amount of noise that is produced at each ISO level. Take a look at them and see the comparison yourself. Both tests show that ISO values of 160, 320, 640,800, 1250 give you the less noise.
There are multiple arguments as to the reasoning behind this but it is worth taking a look at and testing out for yourselves. Below is a comparison of 100ISO and 160ISO. Neat!

Inspiring speech by Director James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic, Terminator) via TED Conference.
Cameron talks about his childhood and what led him to become the storyteller he is today. I have gotten the opportunity to speak to James Cameron myself and he truly is a great listener and inspiration to all of us fighting for our dream.
